What is the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and why is it important?

The Employee Value Proposition (EVP) describes the overall value proposition that a company offers its employees. It encompasses all the benefits, rewards and experiences that employees receive in return for their work – both tangible and intangible.

The EVP is therefore a key component of the employer brand and has a significant influence on how attractive a company is to talent.

Typical components of an EVP are:

  • Remuneration and financial incentives
  • Benefits (e.g. additional benefits, flexibility, mobility)
  • Career development opportunities and further training
  • Corporate culture and working environment
  • The meaning of the work („Purpose“)
  • Work-life balance and working arrangements

A strong EVP helps companies to:

  • to attract qualified talent
  • Retaining staff in the long term
  • To boost motivation and commitment
  • To reduce staff turnover
  • to stand out from the competition for skilled workers

Particularly in highly competitive labour markets, a clearly defined employer brand is crucial to remaining an attractive employer and attracting the right talent.

For start-ups, the EVP is a key tool for presenting compelling arguments to candidates and building a strong team culture, even with limited resources. innoWerft supports founders in developing a clear employer brand, building teams and shaping an authentic corporate culture that fosters growth and innovation.
