It shows how much money actually flows into and out of the company, thereby providing a direct insight into its liquidity and financial stability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike net profit, cash flow takes account only of actual cash flows and is therefore a particularly meaningful indicator of a company\u2019s financial health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Typical components of cash flow are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>Operating cash flow:<\/strong> Cash flow from operating activities<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investment cash flow:<\/strong> Cash inflows and outflows relating to investments<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financing cash flow:<\/strong> Cash inflows and outflows arising from financing activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cash flow is important because it shows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>whether a company can cover its running costs<\/li>\n<li>how liquid a company really is<\/li>\n<li>whether it is possible to make investments using our own resources<\/li>\n<li>the extent to which a company is dependent on external funding<\/li>\n<li>how robust the business model is in day-to-day practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A positive cash flow means that a company takes in more money than it spends and thus remains financially viable.
